A good ecommerce web page design will lead the visitor to the right page in one click or two at the most. Sometime Flash Web Design Company will use techniques that would never be considered for non-eCommerce websites. Everyone has seen at least one sales letter website. On these web pages the only link is to the order form. Sales letters are not the most typical eCommerce website because they usually sell only one product. That allows the web designer the ability to exaggerate the one click principle and make it an advantage. All the facts about the product have been presented to the user is a smart way while every few lines he has the option to click on the order form. If he is not yet convinced he will have the option to continue to read more facts and testimonials about the products. Believe it or not, those sales letter websites are actually selling.

“What about online shops?” Online shops have to deal with more then one product. Of course, the greater number of products increases the complexity of the website. Sophisticated eCommerce websites use a variety of personalization technologies in an effort to determine the best selection of products to offer to the visitor. Personalization technologies are a major part of advanced eCommerce websites. However this topic is beyond the scope of this article. The cleverness of an eCommerce website’s personalization technology has a major influence on its design. The first to use such technology was Amazon.com who decided to push their client’s books to a visitor based on that visitor’s past orders combined with the statistics they had collected on all visitors used to predict what someone looking at a specific book might also be interested in reading. Today the goal is to try to predict what to offer the user on his first visit as well.

An eCommerce web design is also about the layout. One important aspect is where the user’s eyes look first when accessing a web page. Lots of research has been done on this topic. Most research showed that the middle left side area will attract the most attention followed by the center of the page. By using these techniques web designers try to draw the “walking path” for the visitor’s eye, much like what was done at the supermarket. An experienced eCommerce web designer will know how to create designs to meets those demands.

If you are about to open an eCommerce website or you are already own one, make sure you understand the web design principles for online selling. Consider consulting with an experienced website designer preferably someone who has experience with eCommerce websites.

CITY MANAGER

It's time to run this City like a business, not a personal playground. Between Beaverheimer's brainstroms and the Mayor's ego, this town is going down the tubes, its just a matter of time. Lets recap the millions of dollars wasted over the last several years. Of course Beaver would say he got grants, but that doesn't mean things are free. Why don't he try to get money for things the City needs, not for pet project, so the Mayor can leave his Legacy. An example of this is the Maine St. Project. The streets in this town are crumbling, sinking, full of potholes, and many are curbless, but Maine St.(which was on the bottom of the fix it up list) got repaved, new curbs, fancy brick inlaid sidewalks, new trees, and about 50 new streetlights, at a little under $4,000.00 each. Of course, the work extended 3 blocks East and 3 blocks West, with City Hall located in the center. But over the years, the tax paying work-
ing person has been taught to be grateful for a shovel or two of asphalt every once in a while.
PROJECT: Hydroelectricity COST: 7 figures and probably rising, counsulting and legal fees, feasibility studies and design work. Almost $6,000,000.00 and not one nail has been hammered. OUTCOME: Nothing, Lost the permit because the people in charge did not know what they were doing and the million dollar lawyers, counsultants, engineers, and architects did not know what they were doing either. However, I'm sure the administration can beat another million or two out of this dead horse.
PROJECT: WASHINGTON THEATER COST: 6 figures or more, mostly counsulting fees and feasibility studies. OUTCOME: A building rarely used with a high dollar electric marquee with a message board asking for donations to keep the board operating.
PROJECT: LUXURY RIVERFRONT CONDOS COST: 6 figures or more in infrastructure upgrades and incentives to the contractor. OUTCOME: Limbo, 2 years ago all the buildings on over half of a city block were demolished for the 1/4 million dollar apiece condos. As of today, the land has been cleared, with one foun dation wall poured about a year and a half ago, and no one has set a foot on the ground since and I don't think they will again.
PROJECT: MASS TRANSIT CENTER COST: Unknown, the only thing being mentioned was a $ 6 million grant to put trains, buses, and taxis in a centralized location( 2nd and Spring isn't my idea of centralized). What wasn't publicized was the fact that the grant only covered about a third of the cost, not counting a million or two operating expense each year, OUTCOME: Dead The Mayor and the Beav tried to get another $35 grand for another feasibility study a few weeks ago and the City Council just said NO. Its Done.
PROJECT: WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT COST: It would take some time to explain this one, there are too many questions and coincidences. Here's the Readers Digest version. 2002, 8 wastewater employees retire. Their wages and benefits cost the City around $450,000.00 per year. The City will save this amount by not refilling these jobs and contracting EMC(Now American Water) to manage wastewater. This is were I get confused. EMC is paid $1.1 million per year so the City can save less than $1/2 million per year ??? and 8 years later EMC's annual fees has gradually climbed to $1.8 million. 2010, EMC receives a new 5 year contract, but their fees are now less than $800,000.00 per year. The Mayor and City Council are tickled pink, but not one City Offical, Counsultant, or Attorney, ask my burning question. Have you been ripping the City off for the last eigth years or what? How can you reduce your fees by 60% or $900,000.00 per year. This patnership creates too many questions and not enough answers, and people are still wondering, Where's the savings? Things that make one go Huh. The Mayor who contracted EMC in 2002, is now an attorney employed by American Water(EMC) and the EMC offical he negotiated with was John Spring's campaign manager.
PROJECT: PEDESTRIAN/BIKE PATH FROM CLAT ADAMS PARK SOUTH TO RIVERSEDGE PARK(Northside Boat Club, two blocks) COST: Beaverheimer says He has received a grant of $254,000.00 to help pay for the City half of the project, which is $850,000.00. So I guess the Park District is anteing up another $850 grand. That's $1.7 million or more, so a person can walk 2 blocks and view the river, except for about half your walk the river is going to be blocked from view by the Water Plant. Also, Beav says that the Northside Boat Club has to be moved. It has been decided that after about 100 years in the same location, the Boat Club is too close to the railroad tracks. OUTCOME: Remains to be seen. Let's see, what could we do with around $2 million, the Mayor said if they don't cut a million from the budget, a firehouse might be closed, the Newcomb Hotel could use that money, it could buy a few curbs and alot of blacktop, I wonder if a 100 year old Water Plant needs any renovations, or the wastewater plant has become middle- aged. I see alot of sewers backing up, maybe they could some money. It isn't going to do any good to dress up the riverfront if the rest of Quincy is falling apart.

Went to eat and show a new couple the resturant, I had the BBQ it was at best mediocre. Brisket is very overcooked and shredded, as was the pulled pork. The very small sausage was as well overcooked. Don't waste your money. I suggest this dish be eliminated from the menu.

My friend is a local soon to be bride in Quincy. She has her whole wedding an reception planned an almost paid for when the hotel closed its doors. They gave this hotel almost $3000 an the hotel did not honor the contract an took all their money. Here is her story: "Our wedding reception is scheduled there for May 14, 2011!!! Just 37 days away. I talked to the hotel last week and was PROMISED the doors would not close but they may switch ownership! We paid our deposit in April of 2010 of $1270.00 and then just recently started paying on the balance to get it to a "manageable" amount at the end. All in all we have invested at least $3000.00. We have not received a phone call and can reach NO ONE! Now if they do open back up under new ownership we may still be out of luck! Our contract and money was with the previous owner! This is any brides worst nightmare coming true! Now we have to find a venue, caterer, d.j., and so much more... with over half of our budget gone (and likely not to come back)! Good luck to anyone who has planned their wedding reception there!"

We are contacting companies to see if anyone out there has the heart to help them. She recently lost her job an her soon to be husband is a college student after doing 2 tours of Iraq for the army. They have put everything they have into this wedding only to get ripped off. They are very strapped for money an have to start all over. They may have a place but still need help with catering,limo,an DJ. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time. She doesn't know I posted this. Took the wife and couple of kids there a week or so ago....1pm and still had to wait. St Louis Style Pizza very good....will choose this over POPS..largest and best tasting chicken strips I have found.
