We are a non partisan, not-for-profit, civic, and educational, public advocacy organization. We want to educate the general public about workplace rights, public policy, the structure and benefits of unionization. We are here to enhance the common good of the Quincy community. Our goal is to reach out to the citizens of Quincy through public forums, like our free seminars, mass media events, like the Dogwood parade and with our ongoing commercials to share its viewpoints.
To address the issue as to whether we are a local organization, YES. Every organization that is involved with The Union Difference, Inc. has workers in the Quincy area. We are very much a part of day to day life in Quincy. I do spend my money inQuincy and my tax dollars help this community. Feel free to visit our web site you will clearly see all the organizations involved.
The free seminars that we are offering are just that, free seminars on different topics that can enhance your knowledge of things like small business law, labor history, buying a home, credit and family counseling. Absolutely free and open to the general public, no strings attached. If you smell fish it must be from the river.
We would like to invite “iladelph” to come by the Union Difference office and see the improvements to the building and talk with some of the people involved. I think you would be very pleasantly surprised. The address of the Union Difference office is 648 Maine .The Union Difference is proud to be part of Quincy and Adams County and we intend to remain part of the greater community for many years to come.
Mike Martin, Quincy Resident
Board Member, The Union Difference, Inc.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Mar 11, 2010 2:37 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1399#p11495 Canton Mo BBQ http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1394#p11492
by greeny (Posted Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:21 pm)

We went there a few weeks ago. I thought it was pretty good. The garlic mashed potatoes and corn muffin were good! I had a taste of the potato salad and it was bad! My friends did not like their baked beans, the house salad got good reviews. I was a bigger fan of the pork than the brisket. Given all of the sauces on the table I didn't think they'd cover the meat in sauce when it was served to us. I would've preferred it plain so I could add the sauce on my own. It was a lot of food for the money, but I can't say we'll rush back. We'd definitely stop by again if in Canton though.

Read the main topic related to this post
Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:21 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1394#p11492 Friends of Constitution http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1397#p11491
by Rabbit (Posted Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:20 am)

Seen an ad in the QHW for this group.

http://sites.google.com/a/focpac.com/focpac/

What do you think?

Read the main topic related to this post
Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:20 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1397#p11491 City government ethics http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1396#p11490
by lee (Posted Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:12 pm)

They need some new Aldermen/Women...Too many have been on too long and then there's a couple who talk to hear their own voice...Should only allow 2 terms...

Read the main topic related to this post
Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:12 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1396#p11490 Soup Dinner at St. Rose on Sunday http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1395#p11488
by Mhoram (Posted Fri Feb 26, 2010 4:07 pm)

Join us on Sunday, February 28th, between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm, at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church at 8th & Chestnut in Quincy, for our February Soup Extravaganza!

$6/person, $25/family

Have your fill of our famous cream-turkey sandwiches and several soups:

* Chili
* Chicken Noodle
* Cheesy Potato
* Ham & Bean
* Pumpkin Soup

There will also be cornbread, plenty of desserts, and coffee, tea, and lemonade.

Don't miss the raffles for your chance to win a $200 gift certificate from the Butcher Block or a gift card from Taco Bell, Sprouts, Ruby Tuesday, Gem City Pizzeria, Elders, or Ayerco! I have never in my life seen a business run in such an unfriendly, owner oriented way! First of all, have you ever seen the owners of any business reserve the first two parking spots for themselves? And not only that, the next ten closest spots to the door are reserved for EMPLOYEES. And if you DARE to park in one of those RESERVED spots, there is a sign on the inside of the door stating that YOUR CAR WILL BE DISABLED. Un-freaking-believable!! And if that isn't bad enough, the parking lot is never plowed or deiced. So when Grandma comes to see her little ones play, not only does she have to park a mile away, she has to endanger her life by walking on a sheet of ice to get there... Oh, and she needs to pay a dollar to get in and "breathe the air"...

Don't they have a back entrance?? Do they not care how arrogant they look by parking right by the front door??

All of that being said, they even went so far as to threaten one of my kids... she was told to stop bouncing her soccer ball..."because he had 24 soccer balls at home and if she bounced it again, he would have 25". Are you kidding? This is a SOCCER ARENA that is geared toward children! I realize that you can't have mayhem with all of the kiddos running around screaming and bouncing the soccer balls everywhere, but that's out of line.

And God forbid you spill something... I told the gal behind the counter that I spilled my drink, not wanting someone to slip. Well, she glared at me and handed me a mop! She must be related to the owner with that attitude. I went to school with him... he knows me... but do you think he would even SPEAK to those people that he knows, his customers? No, he is just as arrogant and spoiled as he was 25 years ago. His father is probably spinning in his grave watching his son, God rest his soul. An honorable businessman who was admired and respected my everyone in the community. Evidentally those traits are not inherited.

Needless to say, my kids will not be playing soccer at K and L in the future. There are plenty of other sports and activities.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:42 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1367#p11431 Quincy Magazine http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1354#p11427
by Robert (Posted Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:01 pm)

I do enjoy their posting of event pictures!

Read the main topic related to this post
Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:01 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1354#p11427 Meals Delivered http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1351#p11404
by allthenewsthatfits (Posted Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:52 am)

I have a friend who is going to be working long nights for a while, and I would like to have meals delivered to him. We don't eat carbs, but I had a little girl with me who I thought might be entertained by the place. Not quite 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the place was locked up tighter than a drum. No "Be back soon" sign, no "Closed for emergency" notice. Just posted hours that led me to think they'd be open 'til 7 on a locked door displaying a darkened room. We went to DQ instead and used our dollars to vote for overpriced barely frozen air surrounded by something resembling a dairy product.

I'm all for patronizing local businesses instead of the national scum. But a store needs to be

1) Open
2) Open reasonable hours
3) Open consistently during posted business hours

Now reasonable people will give a place like that a few shots before writing it off. Unfortunately, "reasonable" does not describe the bulk of the yokels. (No pun intended) They manage to make time in their busy busy schedules to actually be seen downtown and get presented with a locked and darkened door, they'll not be back. I know that even a well worded note with a decent excuse for not being open wouldn't make a difference in the minds of most of the yokels, but for the more level headed potential customer, it would have been a nice touch. If you've got time to lock the door and douse the lights, you've got time to post something on the door explaining why it's locked. Business, especially retail, is not a hobby kids.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Nov 05, 2009 5:37 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1338#p11398 FIREPROOF http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1130#p11395
by atindall (Posted Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:34 am)

All I can say is you missed the whole point of the movie..........
Take a bunch of people from a church and have THEM try their hand at acting......
STILL a pretty great movie!!!!

APril

Read the main topic related to this post
Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:34 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1130#p11395 Kerasotes: Friend of Q-Town! http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=885#p11393
by mondayC (Posted Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:50 pm)

If you're really into film, home theater is the way to go.
