Avoid MIRRORS! http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1080#p9678
by RealityCheck (Posted Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:27 am)

"Mirrors" is the new horror flick starring Kiefer Sutherland that premiered this weekend. It's yet another poor remake of a superior Asian horror film, this time Korean instead of Japanese. Guess that's what passes for variety in Hollywood these days.

Kiefer plays an Ex-Cop With A Troubled Past who takes a job as a night watchman at a burned out department store. The place has quite a number of, you guessed it, mirrors that behave in ways that mirrors simply shouldn't, and hijinks ensue. Of course, no one believes him at first, since he's apparently become Mr. Mood Swing since he resigned his old job and is popping happy pills to boot.

The film starts off pretty well really, but goes downhill fast about a third of the way in, totally falling apart by the time we get to the climax. The ending? Don't get me started on the ending. They deviated wildly from the original film, but decided to tack on the original ending, and it's totally out of context for the remake.

The high points of the film are the two (yes, only two) death scenes and our brief glimpse of Amy Smart's rather cute rump. No, the "brief nudity" promised in the MPAA warning isn't from Paula Patton. Paula does a fine job as the terrified ex wife, but they kind of overshot the mark when picking someone to be Kiefer Sutherland's wife. There IS one pretty great scene in which the ex wife realizes that his ravings are quite well founded, but that is the absolute high point of the latter 2/3rds of the film.

I've been purposefully vague in my review, hard not to give spoilers to this type of flick for those who insist on seeing it anyway. I can't recommend anyone pay the full theatre price to see this film. It might be ok to drop $2.50 on a rental, if you've got some time to kill. But I'm sure you can find something better to spend the two hours on.

In retrospect, we should have gone to see Tropic Thunder instead.

Read the main topic related to this post
Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:27 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1080#p9678 FS: 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1023#p9677
by Erehwon71 (Posted Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:07 pm)

It's still for sale! He drops the joint and speeds off, unfortunately one of the killers happens to be the distributor of the weed, who recognizes the stuff he's only sold to one guy so far. The process server runs off to warn his dealer, and hijinks ensue.

Sure, the setup might be a little weak, but it is what it is. It sets the stage for one of the best comedies the Rogan/Apatow team have produced so far. It's not just a "stoner movie" as one might expect. The strength of the film, like most of the other Apatow comedies isn't so much in the premise as it is in the relationships of the characters and the dialogue. Not sure who brings it to the table, but the Rogan & Apatow writing team seem to have a knack for realistic sounding dialogue and conversations. Think Tarantino without the pop culture obsession. They also seem to take great pains to us a glimpse into the lives and relationships of the other sets of characters as well.

Another interesting thing is the realism of the various fights in the film. In a few situations, the boys find it necessary to mix it up a bit, and the fights are every bit as random and sloppy as real fights tend to be, esp. when fought by people who really don't want to be in the fight in the first place. The film also features one of the funniest car chases you've probably seen. Overall, it works as both a comedy and a half-ass action movie with real-world physics and real people involved. No Jet Li moves and no Bruce Willis walking on broken glass here.

Pineapple Express is a buddy movie, and it makes no pretensions to be anything else but that and a raucous comedy. Again, if you want to laugh, go see it.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:39 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1077#p9666 Ham Radio? http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1075#p9653
by justme (Posted Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:29 pm)

kb9hgi wrote:Any other ham radio operators in here please call now!

KB9HGI

I know of three licensed Hams that are members of this forum.

Read the main topic related to this post
Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:29 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1075#p9653 Don't throw out your old computers / equipment http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=1052#p9652
by kb9hgi (Posted Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:27 pm)

I never throw out old computers I have several on my network. I'm posting this for the chuckle factor, the OMGWTF? factor, and as helpful information for the visiting Rivertalk trolls...

WHAT DOES A VAGINA FEEL LIKE, AND HOW CAN YOU BEST SIMULATE THAT FEELING WHILE MASTURBATING?

A vagina feels warm, moist, soft, tight, and delicious. You feel all cozied up when you're inside it, especially since you can hug your girl really close. It's hard to simulate the actual intimacy of intercourse, but I think the best way is to continually lube up with as much saliva as possible. Stroke until it's getting a little dry, stop for a minute to regain your composure, and then lube up with saliva again and continue stroking. It seems that the effect of the saliva lube is cumulative, and the feeling is very close to that of a vagina.
- age 42, New York

First, completely cover the erect penis with your favorite lube (note: lubes should be water-based, not oil-based). Once the surface of the penis is well lubed, put on a latex condom. The condom will maintain contact with the entire penis, as opposed to being touched only by the hand. Next, lube the outside of the condom and begin to stroke using your favorite hand grip. This technique is a close proximity to the feeling of a real vagina. Happy jacking!
- age 21, Illinois

Placing your right hand (if right-handed) tightly over the penis. Push your penis through with a hard push, then pull out slowly, and so forth.
- age 17, Georgia

There really is no way to simulate a vagina exactly. But I've found you can get a similar feeling if you if you lube up really well, wrap your fist tightly around the head of your penis, and then move your fist back and forth just a few inches (so that the head almost comes completely out of your hand), and then push it back in.
- age 15, New Jersey

I'm not an expert at this -- I've only had sex with three girls. There's no way that I know of to describe a vagina. Masturbating is great, but intercourse is heavenly. It's warm, soft, moist, and just plain enjoyable -- especially after my penis is all the way in. Sometimes I feel like ejaculating just leaving it in, without any movement.
- age 17, Nevada

A vagina basically feels hot, wet, and tight. The initial entry is often (at least in my limited experience) somewhat difficult, but once inside, the tight opening wraps around the base of your penis and adds immeasurable pleasure. Often juices will run down the length of your penis and the side of your scrotum. How can you simulate this? You can't. Just keep masturbating as usual, and enjoy the sensations it permits. Leave vagina feelings to the vagina.
- age 21, Illinois

It feels all soft -- not too rigid. If you're just using your hand, do not grab a hold of your penis too hard. Be gentle, and enjoy the feeling.
- age 28, United Kingdom

Take a large banana ... peel ... microwave on low (eat the fruit) ... caress your pucky with the warm peel ... get it as tight as you want ... it's pretty close!
- age 23, Texas

Put a large amount of spit on your hands and lubricate them both very well. Squeeze fairly hard. Slowly thrust into your hands (which are wrapped around your penis) and increase the pace. Keep adding more spit. Warm or hot hands are best.
- age 21, Australia

My brother and I used to take turns getting on top of each other and thrusting into the other's lubed-up hand -- similar to the "Vagina" method in JackinExpert. Looking back, that was pretty close!
- age 31, California

It feels kind of moist and silky. I think you can best simulate this by rubbing Vaseline all over your penis and working it up and down. Sure it's messy, but oh -- what a feeling.
- age 15, Ohio

I've been married for 5 years, and I can say you get more sensation masturbating with your hand than putting your penis into a vagina. I have to admit a vagina feels good -- but in the moment of orgasm, there's nothing better than masturbating! Believe me!
- age 27, Puerto Rico

Well, this is kind of like asking what a really good wine tastes like. I mean, all of those wine experts use all those stupid wine-tasting words, but you still don't know what it tastes like until you taste it. Now all you young virgins, my advice is to stay that way as long as you can. It avoids lots of problems. Masturbation can give you all the pleasure and relief that vaginal sex can, and it can do it easier and cheaper and with a whole lot fewer problems. To simulate the feeling is hard. First you need a really slick lube; suntan lotion is easy and cheap. Second, you need a really loose grip. I can never manage to keep from squeezing mine. Put on a lubricated condom, make a rough human shape out of some soft blankets, and make a valley for your penis to fit in; lie on it and hump like you are having sex -- that's about as close as you can get. The orgasm is not necessarily any better. Sometimes the one you get masturbating is stronger, but the overall feeling is different. I realize this wasn't much help, but just wait a few years -- then you can try it both ways.
- age 44, Arkansas

Wear a rubber when you masturbate -- it feels like a vagina through latex.
- age 21, Maryland

The vagina feels different in different positions -- just like masturbation. Although I'd definitely rather be inside my girlfriend then masturbating. Not that I don't masturbate ... I do it all the time. The way I like to simulate the feeling is to spit into my hand and get it really wet, then grab onto my penis at the top with a little pressure (not too much!), then slowly let my hand glide down my penis really slowly, simulating the feeling of entering a vagina (my favorite part of intercourse).
- age 20, New York

I think nothing feels like a real vagina, but the best method to simulate it is to cut a hole the size of your penis in a latex sponge.
- age 21, Germany

Make sure your hands are well lubricated, and grip the base of your penis with one hand and hold it steady. With the other hand, stroke the top half of your penis in an up-and-down motion -- but be quite firm with the downward stroke and much more gentle with the upward one. This can be even more pleasurable if you very slowly move the hand that's gripping the base of your penis.
- age 22, United Kingdom

There is no way I know to simulate the feel of a vagina with your hand. A vagina feels like a warm (sometime hot), tight, squeezing, juicy mouth with many tongues, all soft and delicious. This is a feeling to die for it's so wonderful. Now with the hand, grease it up well with K-Y, baby oil, etc. Put on a little Ben-Gay (just a spot); this will put some warm feeling into your penis as you masturbate. Wrap your fingers around the entire penis while jacking. Also, turn your hand around to where the thumb is first to touch your scrotum.
- age 30, Nevada

After a woman is stimulated, her vagina produces moisture that makes it very wet and slippery. It is warm and wonderful. The best substitution I've found is to get some Astro Glide [a commercial personal lube], put a few drops in your hand, and rub both hands together. Then hold both hands together as in prayer, keeping the opening at the heel of the hands. I like to lie on the edge of the bed over my hands; this frees me to thrust into my hands just like in intercourse. I sometimes vary it by standing with my hands against something so I have to do the thrusting.
- age 62, Texas

Warm liver -- the kind you eat with onions -- feels really similar to a vagina.
- age 16, Arizona

Have sex with a hot water bottle and plenty of lube.
- age 15, Pennsylvania

Squeeze really tight, and use both hands so your penis will not come out. Move just your hips, not your hands.
- age 20, Indiana

Based on the three girls I've had sex with, it's pretty soft, and it pulsates a lot. I suggest greasing up your penis with salad oil and sliding your hands up and down loosely. It's a little messy, but it's worth it when you orgasm! Also, if you have an above-average-size penis, you can switch hands off and on to make a sort of infinite tunnel, which makes masturbating feel almost as good as thrusting in and out of a woman.
- age 20, Massachusetts

Stick your penis into a warm pile of instant mashed potatoes.
- age 18, Illinois

The most startling thing about intercourse is the temperature. We're talking 98.6 degrees, not room temperature! Also, a vagina is moist with secretions. Spit comes close, but pre-cum is better. The temperature is hard to duplicate, however. For years I've used the "Vagina" method described in JackinExpert, but a warm fist is not a hot vagina. (Note: Do not try to get warmth by using the heat rubs used in athletics. If any gets on your scrotum, you will be in severe pain!)
- age 49, New York

You need these things:
1. A towel
2. A rubber glove
3. A rubber band
4. Lubrication (I like lotion)
Take the rubber glove and roll it up in the towel. (Make sure the glove is sticking out of the towel a couple of inches.) Roll it up nice and tight. Then fold the glove over the towel and place the rubber band over the glove so it stays on. Then put lotion inside the glove, which is inside the towel. You can put the towel between your mattress and box-spring and pump away!
- age 16, Montana

Try this: Fill a glass 3/4 full with very warm water. As you masturbate, periodically stick your penis into the glass. For the first few moments, it feels very much like a warm vagina.
- age 30, Illinois

When you first enter a woman, it feels very much like the "Infinitely Deep Vagina" technique described in JackinExpert. But after you've been in her for a little while, the warmth and snugness is great. Vaginas are great, but orgasms feel about the same in your hand as in a vagina. To simulate it, I use lots of lube, hold my hands like a tube, and thrust into my hands. That's about the closest I can get to the feeling.
- age 47, Massachusetts

A vagina is warm, with just the right amount of slipperiness. I like to have warm hand lotion on both my hands, with my fingers clasped into a sort of tube or cylinder. Then I slowly push and pull my penis in and out. I try to keep my hands very steady so my penis has to do all the work -- much like the real thing. I also find that putting on a condom and pushing between two pillows on my bed is very much like the real thing.
- age 18, South Africa

It feels like sticking your finger in your mouth. The best way to simulate one with your hand is to lube up with baby oil, hold your hand around your penis, and on your stomach move your body while keeping your hand in place. Put a rag under you to catch the semen.
- age 21, Ohio

I like the "Fist" position -- but another good way is to put some Vaseline in a plastic bag and then stick it in between your box-spring and your mattress. Then start pumping away -- it's just like doggie-style.
- age 17, Illinois

Don't use baby oil or Vaseline, because you can run down to Wal-Mart and pick up a tube of lubricating jelly for $2. To make a great fake vagina, all you have to do is get a paper towel roll and line the inside with soft fabric. Then make sure your penis fits, and line the inside with thin plastic. All you do is lube up and have fun. I have found that if your penis doesn't fit without the jelly but fits with the jelly, it's a lot more pleasurable.
- age 14, New Jersey

Here's a simple device you can make that feels really good. Take a piece of PVC pipe about a foot long or so and wide enough so your penis fits comfortably inside when erect. (Slightly larger is better than too small.) Then cut a chunk of bicycle inner-tube (for bikes with bigger tires) about 8" longer than the pipe. Put the piece of inner-tube through the pipe. Stretch one end of the inner-tube over the outside of the pipe, and fasten it in place with an automobile hose clamp. Stretch the other end of the inner-tube over the other end of the pipe, and fasten it with a hose clamp as well. Then lube up your erect penis with plenty of water-based lube (K-Y Jelly is really good), and pump your homemade vagina for all you're worth! A warning though -- don't use petroleum-based lubes like Vaseline, as it will eventually rot the rubber. When you're finished, just rinse it clean. Another thing you can do is make the old tried-and-true "Sailor's P***y" (Sailor's Vagina would be more polite). To do this, make a fairly large pot of thick oatmeal, and let it cool until just warm. Then dump it into a small section of nylon pantyhose. Tie the hose around the oatmeal so you have a nice lump -- but leave a fair amount of slack in the hose so there is some give to it. Then, with your fingers, push an opening into the oatmeal through the hose, so the hose lines the hole (otherwise it is very sticky). When you insert your erect penis, you're doing what sailors at sea have done for generations. Have fun!
- age 30, Georgia

Read the main topic related to this post
Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:19 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=1074#p9646 That Hussein Name http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1014#p9645
by Jodi (Posted Sun Aug 10, 2008 5:27 pm)

Maybe one of the Jodi's was me R-Check..
Naw.....Jodi is just my "Stage/Pen " name...lol

Read the main topic related to this post
Sun Aug 10, 2008 5:27 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1014#p9645 Mr. Deals Auto Center http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1073#p9643
by Whippersnap (Posted Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:11 am)

Here's the website I just dug up.

http://www.mrdealsautocenter.com/

Read the main topic related to this post
Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:11 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1073#p9643 When is the K of C barbecue? http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1072#p9642
by Tspud1 (Posted Sat Aug 09, 2008 6:55 pm)

This year it starts on Thursday night and runs thru Sunday the 17th.
