I know I have given them hell for high prices in the past, but all three companies has worked around the clock getting their utilities back in service.

I was lucky enough to have a couple generators and enough fuel on hand to keep my freezer/refrigerator and A/C running for several days if needed.

What I found neat (after I got mine and my neighbors trees cut up and out of the way) I took my dog for a walk and saw people actually sitting outside on their porches talking and having a great time and spending the darkness time with neighbors and friends, some having battery and gas operated lanterns sitting there playing cards and cooking out.

NO, this little storm was nothing compared to Katrina, I have no clue how anyone could even compare the two, and to my knowledge no one was hurt, killed or out of a place to live in this storm, maybe a little inconvenienced, but that was only for 7 or 8 hours in my part of town, not a big deal at all. I didn't even realize that I had no cable until Saturday. I was able to get on the Internet since my laptop had a fully charged battery and my DSL is on a battery backup.

Like I said it was nice seeing people who you never see outside helping others.

I think Quincians as a whole came together and help one another and got though this small situation and passed with flying colors!

Really put my faith back in people, Quincy people!

John

PS: I will still #itch* and complain about high priced utilities.......just not this weekend!

Read the main topic related to this post
Sun Jun 21, 2009 1:44 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1304#p11177 What's new in Quincy http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=326#p11174
by bearcat94 (Posted Sun Jun 21, 2009 7:28 am)

have a new eatery in the 100 block of South 10th. First of all, picking a day to quit is paramount to success. Rationing cigarettes throughout the day, eliminating a couple daily, will ease a bit of the physical withdrawal. Beginning or expanding a daily exercise routine will help with the mental withdrawal. It was also important for me to keep my hands busy. I became a housecleaning and artistic fanatic. There has to be something there to fill up the empty time and attention that one used to devote to cigarettes. Keep focused on the ultimate goal...to be free of the financial, emotional, and societal burden of smoking. Lastly, it is important to seek out emotional support from people that understand the addiction process and do not make hasty, morality-based, and uninformed judgments about smoking. Being labeled as trashy, stupid or dirty is not going to help. Shame-based coercion has NEVER proven to be of any value. Any comment that is designed to hurt or insult is NOT designed to help. I applaud you for trying to help a friend. For the record, antidepressants have proven to be of some value in this battle. I can't speak from personal experience, but I know a lot of people who went this route with a fairly good success rate. In the long run, what works for some people may not work for others.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Jun 18, 2009 3:25 am http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1302#p11166 CUBS http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1112#p11165
by Butternut (Posted Tue Jun 16, 2009 8:54 pm)

Ok all you cubbie fans.........The roid report just got bigger today. He has made it to the final round of voting. I've never spent the money on voting for something like that before, but because Ranger is often featured in Dave's blog, I've become a huge fan and have decided to drop some coins on a good cause.
http://ursadailynews.blogspot.com/
Dave and his family are just awesome people. They are going through the worst a parent could go through right now, and I'm sure Ranger being in the pet contest is the last thing on their mind. However, I think it would be a bright spot for them if Ranger pulled ahead of all those other critters to come out on top.
If you feel like contributing but not sure who to vote for, Vote For RANGER!

Read the main topic related to this post
Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:12 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1297#p11146 Steak House at the Holiday Inn? http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1287#p11145
by justme (Posted Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:54 pm)

JPL wrote:$45 for a piece of meat?

thats more than I spend in a week for meat at grocery store!

Read the main topic related to this post
Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:54 pm http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1287#p11145 FS: Electronics http://www.quincyforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1295#p11140
by kb9hgi (Posted Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:44 am)

1. pair of Motorola FS radios no license needed 10.00

2.
