Politicains aren't usually in it for the money. For the amount of BS they put with it really doesnt pay that well. It's the perks, social station, and power that comes along with it. Holding office puts you in contact with affluent.

Best place for fireworks?

I was curious about which place in West Quincy has the best prices for fireworks. Last year we went to a couple places and there was a pretty vast difference in prices but I can't remember which was the cheapest. Mostly we are interested in sparklers and smoke bombs.

I believe the most famous Quincy Person would have to be Mary Aster...She was born in 1906-1987 - She was an academy winner playing opposite Humphrey Bogart in Maltest Falcon....She played in several top rated Movies...Her family home still Stands on the West side of of North 12th.. (around the 2400 Block) .It's a large brick Mansion...Sets way back from the road.

Well I have to give Ameren CIPS, Comcast, SBC/ATT credit. I know I have given them hell for high prices in the past, but all three companies has worked around the clock getting their utilities back in service.

I was lucky enough to have a couple generators and enough fuel on hand to keep my freezer/refrigerator and A/C running for several days if needed.

What I found neat (after I got mine and my neighbors trees cut up and out of the way) I took my dog for a walk and saw people actually sitting outside on their porches talking and having a great time and spending the darkness time with neighbors and friends, some having battery and gas operated lanterns sitting there playing cards and cooking out.

NO, this little storm was nothing compared to Katrina, I have no clue how anyone could even compare the two, and to my knowledge no one was hurt, killed or out of a place to live in this storm, maybe a little inconvenienced, but that was only for 7 or 8 hours in my part of town, not a big deal at all. I didn't even realize that I had no cable until Saturday. I was able to get on the Internet since my laptop had a fully charged battery and my DSL is on a battery backup.

Like I said it was nice seeing people who you never see outside helping others.

I think Quincians as a whole came together and help one another and got though this small situation and passed with flying colors!

Really put my faith back in people, Quincy people!

PS: I will still #itch* and complain about high priced utilities.......just not this weekend!

have a new eatery in the 100 block of South 10th. Many other food shops have tried this location w/o much success. Jimbeanas is the name on the building....something about fierce food...

I don't know anyone who has had the hypnosis treatment, but I can tell you what worked for me. First of all, picking a day to quit is paramount to success. Rationing cigarettes throughout the day, eliminating a couple daily, will ease a bit of the physical withdrawal. Beginning or expanding a daily exercise routine will help with the mental withdrawal. It was also important for me to keep my hands busy. I became a housecleaning and artistic fanatic. There has to be something there to fill up the empty time and attention that one used to devote to cigarettes. Keep focused on the ultimate goal...to be free of the financial, emotional, and societal burden of smoking. Lastly, it is important to seek out emotional support from people that understand the addiction process and do not make hasty, morality-based, and uninformed judgments about smoking. Being labeled as trashy, stupid or dirty is not going to help. Shame-based coercion has NEVER proven to be of any value. Any comment that is designed to hurt or insult is NOT designed to help. I applaud you for trying to help a friend. For the record, antidepressants have proven to be of some value in this battle. I can't speak from personal experience, but I know a lot of people who went this route with a fairly good success rate. In the long run, what works for some people may not work for others.

Its been several years and quite a bit of turnover since I purchased anything from them. But my Mom has a car from them and to this day, when getting work done, Dean purposedly comes down and strikes up a conversation and about the car and other things. He seems to take a serious interests in his customers and how they like the cars and service.

I've never spent the money on voting for something like that before, but because Ranger is often featured in Dave's blog, I've become a huge fan and have decided to drop some coins on a good cause.

These movies were made by a church and most of the people in the first movie were people from the church.....just awesome movies to watch, especially now days when such movies are not the "norm".
I challenge anyone who reads this to rent both movies and give a little "report"......

I have already purchased the fencing, its really good quality, not the home depot/lowes stuff. It's a 6' vinyl privacy fence, It's a 68 ft length of fence.
